This is the milestone this year as due to the geographical and climatic conditions and also scarcity of govt. staff this activity was whenever started discontinued. But this year Govt. provided one solar run refrigerator. The scarcity of staff was made up with our senior supervisor who has been giving vaccines to all the children on 26th of every month since July 2001. This had given birth to one of the indispensable services of primary health care in this most neglected are of Arunachal Pradesh.

Income Generation Activity for Women TOP

The sustained persuasion for 3 years has resulted into forming a number of SHGs. The salient features of these groups till now has been that we have not contributed any monitory support to start these groups. It is the loan facility which is attracting more and more ladies to join these groups:-

Sl. No Name Duration
(Months)
Membership Rotating Money
1. S.S.B. Line Chayangtajo 18 32 51628
2. Yangfo 13 23 7020
3. Bazarline Chayangtajo 12 14 8106
4. Killo 11 11 4200
5. Rabe (1) 6 13 3800
6. Rabe (2) 1 13 650
7. Craft Centre,  Chayangtajo 2 17 1720
    Total 113 77124

Total Groups : 7
Total Members : 123
Total Rotating Money : Rs. 77,124/-

Due to the previous dismal record of repayment no bank at Seppa is willing to support the groups under SJSY. Thus, we had contacted CAPART, NABARD and RGVN. All the three have extended cooperation but due to our weakness of not able to provide audited statement of year 2000-01 till now we are not able to avail that.
Intervention through preservence of Cultural Heritage TOP

This is a new avenue of bringing about social change in which we have started intervention. Two of our old workers one Smt. Senya Tajo, the oldest health worker of KHOJ the other Smt. Yana Bagang, one of our assistant supervisor have with our active support and direction devoted themselves to revive the dwindling faith of local people of Donyipoloism, at the same time bringing about some reformations by weaning out those customs which have become detrimental to local society and environment.

Another development in the plan of Ekal Vidyalaya Yojana is that inspired by the experiences of Khoj Chayangtajo they have decided to spread similar health scheme in all their projects. This will locally cover the whole of the East Kameng District where they plan to cover 135 villages.

With our assistance they have been able to secure assistance from district administration in the form of community recreation hall at Seppa. This is a big hall for seating 500 people, AJSS has partitioned it into rooms and now it is their district office cum residence cum training centre, Thus they are set to run 32 schools in East Kameng after May 2002 out of which 21 are in Khoj area.

Education TOP

The Ekal Vidyalaya Yojana by Arunachal Jan Seva Samiti conducted 10 one teacher schools in East Kameng District out of which 8 were in Khoj area of Chayangtajo and Bameng Circles. They have completed training of teachers for 22 more one teacher schools which will open up in May this year.

Trainings TOP

A. Monthly training of 2 days for VHWs and TBAs are being conducted regularly. This has improved this year the reporting data and consistency. Besides the routine teaching of preventive health and diseases special stress had been on:-
  1. Improving quality of reporting and evaluation.

  2. Telling duties and behavior of social worker.

  3. Sharing experiences of other Khoj projects through Health for million and Hamari Chitthi Apke Nam readings.

  4. Stress was on immunization RCH and SHG formation.
B. Senior supervisor Mr. Bikram Tamang attended one Training on various health topics including Malaria, RCH and Adolescent health education at Delhi in the month of October-2001. This provided him an opportunity to share experiences of other field workers.

C. 10 days training was conducted for 2 newly recruited supervisors in August-2001 to initiate them into the filed work of KHOJ.

Efforts for Self Sustainability TOP

Medical services whish provided a major source of income for project are dwindling in Chayangtajo and at Bameng they will be gaining momentum in the coming year only. Thus the year 2001-02 has provided lowest financial return this year.

Total Collection : Rs 59750/-
Total Payment : Rs 89433/-

Savings :- Last year there was collection of about one and a half lakhs but payment was given this year. Thus there seems to by no saving this year.
  1. Sale of IEC materials, health and hygiene related materials like filters, tooth pastes, tooth brushes, mosquito coils, mosquito nets etc. and education materials like notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers etc. have produced little income.

  2. RGVN, CAPART and NABARD are ready to help in our endeavor of SHGs which will also provide substantial amount for administrative purpose but due to non availability of audited account of report of last two years we are abstaining from entering these collaborations.

    a. Collection : Rs. 19969/-
    b. Payment : Rs. 16921/-
    c. Savings : Rs. 3048/-

  3. Arunachal Jan Seva Samiti through its Ekal Vidyalaya Yojana has provided financial assistance to sustain the VHWs and field supervisors. All the VHWs become teachers also of one teacher schools. They are paid Rs. 500/- moth by AJSS thus increasing their income from Rs. 300/- provided by Khoj to Rs. 800/- month. The two field supervisors who received Rs. 500/- month from Khoj are now getting 700/- and 900/- month extra increasing their remuneration to Rs. 1200/- and Rs. 1400/- month respectively. Thus has increased their consistency in the work. AJSSd has spent about Rs. 1200/- in the yearApril/2001 to March/2002 in East Kameng District on EVY.

  4. State’s Asstt. Director Tribal Welfare has offered to assist through many centrally financed schemes in Khoj area but we have not yet advanced in that direction due to non availability of the audit reports of last two years. That help we plan to avail in a big way if the said report if prepared early.
