CO-OPERATION AND CIVIL SUPPLIES

There are 6(six) Co-operative Societies and 9(Nine) Branch co-operatives in the district. These co-operative societies/branches undertake procurement and distribution of essential commodities including PDS items and other Consumer goods. The Seppa Lamps Ltd. Being District nominee for PDS, undertakes wholesale procurements and distribution on PDS items. During the year 1999-2000 Lamps procured distributed 42065.35 Qtls of PDS items in wholesale. The other Co-operative Societies and Branches also under taken retail sale of PDS items. The total turnover of Co-Operative Societies was 423.09 lakhs.

Revenue to the govt. amounting to Rs. 2,94,413.00 has been deposited. "Model Village Multipurpose Co-operative Society Ltd." New Seppa has been organised and the same has been subsequently registered by the RCS, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Naharlagun. During the year 1999-2000, three new FPS has been opened under co-operative in Seppa Township and two in rural areas. There is also one co-operative Apex bank functioning at Seppa.

Civil Supply Department is responsible for regular supply of essential commodities at the same time to ensure that these commodities are available at reasonable prices to common people. Time to time the department takes up surprise inspection to see that rates fixed by Deputy Commissioner are followed or not. There is one Public Distribution Centre (PDC) at Chayangtajo which is 81 KM from district HQ, Seppa. Under this PDC there are seven private fair price shops. Out of 67 Fair Price Shops of the district 15 are under Co-operative sectors and 52 are run by private individuals. There are 5400 Ration card holders in the Seppa Township.

A new scheme called "Annapurna" has been launched by the Government to provide with 10kg of food grains monthly to senior citizens. Initially 141 senior citizens will be identified to start with the scheme.

There are three Central Purchase Organisation Centres (CPO) in the district i.e. Pipu, Lada, Pakkekessang.

At present 62 Nos. of Fair Price Shops are existing in East Kameng District as below :-
